Do we have to bring pesos to Cabo Pulmo?

American dollars are accepted everywhere in Cabo Pulmo. Credit cards are only accepted in the dive center and for your accommodations. It is best to exchange only what you plan to spend. It’s a good idea to bring along plenty of $1’s, $5’s, and $10’s.

Is it safe to walk around in Cabo Pulmo at night?

Yes. There is very virtually no crime in Cabo Pulmo, and what little there is, is usually very petty. Use your common sense with your valuables. Out of site- out of mind!  And use the room safes or lock up drawers.

Are there bugs, dangerous animals, or water hazards?

The bugs are more prevalent in Cabo Pulmo following rains. The most annoying are mosquitoes and they grow out of standing water. During the late summer months we recommend you bringing bug repellent. If you will be hiking in the hills be careful where you walk because snakes do live in the desert. Although the Cabo Pulmo bay is a very safe and protected from any large waves we ask everybody entering the water to use extra caution with the little blue bubbles on the surface. These are small stinging jellyfish in the water that have long tentacles that are hard to see underwater. These can cause a burning rash that lasts for a few hours or so.

Will my cellular phone work in Cabo Pulmo?

Yes.  But we do recommend that you contact your cell carier and purchase the Mexico & Canada service to avoid VERY expensive roaming charges.

Do I need to speak Spanish in Cabo Pulmo?

No. There are many locals that can speak both Spanish and English.

What about the water?

The well water and federal permit to distribute the water to the houses is private. The permit is expensive and has a limit so the owners of the houses ask you to be very conscientious of your water use. Do not let the hose run excessively and keep your showers short. When doing dishes, try not to keep the water running. Every gallon is precious!

Maid Services?

Your house will be cleaned upon your arrival. We offer additional daily housekeeping services for $15 per day. Let us know when you check in if you would like that service.  We also have personal laundry service available for your clothes at a rate of $15 per load. This includes wash, dry and folding.

How far from the beach are your rentals?

It just depends on what house you are staying at. We have ocean front units where you can jump down a long step and you will be on the cabo pulmo beach where you can walk south for about 3 miles on sandy beach or north to a more rocky beach that takes you to the old rock house where you can walk up to el cerrito and be on miles of sandy beaches. Ocean view is having a view of the ocean from your room, not beach front. Walking distance to the beach is always 2 minutes or less. If you need more privacy and open space, we will put you farther from the water.

Do I need to pay in full when I make my reservation?

We require a 20% deposit to hold your reservation. The balance is due 60 days prior to your arrival date. We accept VISA and Master Card only.

When will my credit card be charged?

Depending on when you make the booking and when you are traveling. Normally we will charge your credit card with a deposit seven days from the date of making the reservation. The final charge will be made 60 days prior to your arrival.

Will you call when my second payment is due?

Normally we will not call before charging your final payment unless we have specific questions. What is the cancellation policy? The initial 20% deposit with your confirmed reservations is non-refundable. If you cancel your reservation more than 30 days before your arrival you will receive a full refund minus the 20% deposit. If you cancel less than 30 days before your arrival, no refunds will be given; rain checks will be honored for 1 year.

Beach towels, Sun hat, Sunglasses, Sunblock or sunscreen, Sandals or water shoes, Walking or hiking shoes, Flashlight and batteries (important), Sweater or light jacket, Insect repellent (important), Don't forget your camera, Coffee beans if you like gourmet coffee, Extra cash (don’t be shy here, many people run out).

Do we need to bring our own food?

There are several restaurants in Cabo Pulmo, but if you wish to cook for yourself, almost all of the Bungalows have a well equipped kitchen with all of the supplies needed to cook. Each house has a mid- sized propane refrigerator that will keep your food cool. If you like cold drinks bring ice and maybe a good cooler for the beer. The propane refrigerators are not like your electric one at home! Otherwise, you can purchase beer and sodas at the local restaurants.  Many units have electric fridges.

Are there restaurants in Cabo Pulmo?

#1. Our upstairs restaurant name is “The Coral Reef” it has a great international selection, and we have the coldest beer in town and WiFi.

#2. El Caballero serves good Mexican food and has very consistent operating hours. Open from 7 AM to 9 PM. Only Cash

#4. La Palapa is one of the two ocean front restaurant but it has a inconsistent service. Only Cash

#5. Tito's only serves a good but pricey pizza. Only Cash

Note: All of the restaurants serve beer but only a few serve cocktails.

Is there electricity in Cabo Pulmo?

Yes, each house is equipped with a solar system that charges its batteries. You must be very conscientious of your electrical usage especially on cloudy days. Once the batteries are emptied there is no way to recharge them except waiting for the solar power to charge the batteries the next day. So be careful in the day that there is no power turned on. Do not bringing any electrical appliances with you. However, some customers have large battery chargers for their underwater photo equipment, we like to ask them to charge them in the dive center where we have more power.

Is the water safe to drink?

The water supply for all of Los Cabos is spring fed ground water. The water here is very pure, but be careful. The pipes used for distribution of the water supply and other factors can lead to contamination. The well servicing this small community in Cabo Pulmo supplies reliably good, sweet water, piped underground to each house. A lot of people drink it right from the tap. Although many people drink the water directly from the tap, it is not recommended. Anywhere in the world a change in drinking water can cause stomach distress. We recommend that you drink only bottled or purified water. It is sold here at the Coral Reef restaurant bar upstairs. Or you can get a whole 5 gallon bottle at the caballero restaurant.

Are there televisions, VCRs, or stereos in the houses?

No. You are forced to communicate with your companion. Yikes!

Is there air-conditioning in the Bungalows?

Yes. Some units have A/C, now we only have in 6 units for the hottest months of the year. Normally you will be fine with just the fans. Fans are included in each rental house.

Are pets allowed?

No pets are allowed.
